Frequently Asked Questions for MRAs and Other Organizations

About EPIC Reports

1. What credentials can a physician have primary-source verified through EPIC?

ECFMG will primary-source verify the following credentials through EPIC:

  • Final Medical Diploma
  • Alternate Graduation Document
  • Final Medical School Transcript
  • Student Medical School Transcript
  • Pregraduate Internship Certificate
  • Postgraduate Training Credential
  • Specialist Qualification
  • Certificate of Good Standing
  • Medical Registration Certificate/License to Practice Medicine
  • Advanced Degree in the Medical Sciences

Once a credential has been primary-source verified, it will become a part of the physician’s secure EPIC Portfolio. Physicians will be able to request that a verification report for a credential be sent electronically to any organization, anywhere in the world.

2. Is there a limit to the number of verification reports a physician can have sent to my organization?

No. There is no limit to the number of reports a physician can have sent to your organization. There is a separate report for each verified credential.

3. How long will verification reports be available?

If your organization has a MyIntealth Entity Portal account with access to EPIC, the verification report will be available through the portal for 18 months from the date of issuance. The MyIntealth Entity Portal includes a feature that allows you to archive older reports. You can also print or download copies of reports.

If your organization is accessing the report through the one-time-use version of the portal, the verification report will be available at the link provided for 90 days. If you need to have access to the report for a longer period of time, you should print or download the verification report while it is available.

4. How will I know when a physician has requested a verification report be sent to my organization?

If your organization has a MyIntealth Entity Portal account with access to EPIC, the verification report will be automatically added to the “EPIC Reports” tab, where it can be accessed by any of your organization’s authorized EPIC users.

If your organization does not have a MyIntealth Entity Portal account with access to EPIC, an e-mail containing instructions for how to access the report will be sent to the e-mail addresses provided by the physician at the time the report was requested. If you have a specific e-mail address to which you would like to have reports sent, make sure to provide this e-mail address to your applicants.

5. Can I share a verification report with a third party?

No. EPIC Reports are intended only for the report recipient (the entity to which the report is issued). Any reproduction, transfer, distribution, or other dissemination for use other than by the report recipient is strictly prohibited and could result in legal action.

About Establishing an Account and Receiving Notifications

1. How can my organization establish a MyIntealth Entity Portal Account?

To establish a MyIntealth Entity Portal account with access to EPIC, please contact ECFMG at [email protected].

2. What are EPIC Notifications?

An organization that establishes a free MyIntealth Entity Portal account with access to EPIC can choose to receive EPIC Notifications. EPIC Notifications let the organization know when a credential has been sent for verification. This feature provides an organization with an indication of where a physician is in the primary-source verification process, and which credentials the physician has submitted for verification, even before the credentials have been verified.

Organizations access these notifications through the “EPIC Reports” tab in MyIntealth. Each notification includes:

  • Physician’s name and MyIntealth ID (and EPIC ID, if one was previously issued)
  • Physician’s name as it appears on the credential
  • Type of credential sent for verification
  • Date credential was sent for verification
  • Name of the institution that issued the credential

The notification will also include details that the physician provided when uploading the credential, including:

  • Program start and end dates
  • Degree or license/registration issue date
  • Postgraduate program name
  • Copy of the credential, including its English translation, if applicable
  • Title of the physician’s medical degree

It is important to note that this notification indicates only when the credential was sent for verification and will not be updated throughout the verification process. To demonstrate the authenticity of a credential, a physician will still be required to request an EPIC Report for the organization.
